Costco Gains Popularity Over Wal-Mart

According to New York (Marketwire –Aug 16th 2011), over the last 12 months, there is more negativity about the supermarkets in US than positive, reason being the Wal-Mart taking the image of bad supermarket and is being blamed for the hate.Costco

According to a survey done it was found that out of all the opinions on the supermarkets there has been negative in most of it and it was mostly directed to the Wal-Mart. As much as 58% were negative about the supermarkets and only 36% showed love for the giant retail stores.

According to the 73% opinions posted over 12 moths it has resulted that Wal-Mart has been hated the most and also was most talked about.

On the other hand, the rival, Costco Wholesale (COST) has been reported as the most loved supermarket. People have raised thumbs up for their fondness for pizza, meal deals and chicken particularly in COSTCO which a good percentage of 85 commenting about the same. The lovers of organic foods have nothing negative to say at all about the up market chain with 95% commenting and expressing their love for the same.

Though the above makes us understand that there are more haters than lovers for supermarkets, they have not been able to echo their voice too far. Looking at the statistics from the Amplicate’s new report on “Public opinion on Supermarkets in US on Social Media”, it has been found that the audience for lovers is four times bigger than the audience for haters.
